A Life Gone By


Looking at the stairs, the mind simply split into two.

“I wonder where these stairs go up to?

“Well, they could even go down somewhere, right?

“It could lead up to a dungeon.

“Well, it could also go to the beach.

“It could lead to a life of darkness.

“Rubbish. It goes to freedom.

“Look at how worn out they are. Looks like people were dragged along it. The stones are cold.

“I think this is more due to people jumping in joy. Can feel the warmth.

“Well, whatever, am sure the moss if could speak, could tell wonderful stories”

Part of a Weekend Fiction Short Story in 100 words or less.
