“You see, my problem is, I’ve never managed one of these. I mean, they are huge and tricky.”
“Well, look at it this way, it don’t have a mind of its own. It simply goes where you tell it to. If you let others run it, it just goes round and round or nowhere. Just like a marriage. One strong person at the helm, guiding the others. You or the Missus. Don’t matter.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” sighed Shaun, as he headed back to the car. Finding a canoe was easy. Getting the family to be one team? Good Lord!

Very nice take. Both stories are good.

I love the comparison to a marriage. Canoeing isn’t as easy as it looks. Fun story.

Canoes take teamwork, or one very strong paddler… 🙂 alas.

Absolutely Bjorn. I remembered one during our college days, a group of friends. All in different directions 🙂

LOL. Getting everyone to row in the same direction seems simple but its a complex task. Nicely done.

Dear Rajesh,
That teamwork thing is kind of tricky, isn’t it? On that last line you need another word, as it is it doesn’t quite make sense. “Getting the family to [work] as one team?”
Nicely done.

Thanks Rochelle.. Indeed it is… Thks for the grammatical note.. I knew something was wrong, but after doing quite a few edits, missed that one.. Changed it to “be”… Cheers.. Rajesh
